HIGHLIGHTS OF BGBS 2022

  • 3 plenary sessions, 8 sectoral sessions and 5 country sessions were organised at the Summit with top corporate leaders and political dignitaries from India and abroad
  • Partner Countries ( 14): Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Republic of Korea and United Kingdom 
  • 4300 delegates participated in the summit from 42 countries with over 500 international delegates 
  • Ambassadors from Italy, Malaysia, Kenya, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Fiji, Australia, Japan, Poland, Finland, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan joined the summit
  • Sectoral Sessions - Agri Business & Food Processing, Infrastructure, Industry, Services, Globalising Bengal's Creative Economy, Tourism & Hospitality, International Trade, Mining & Allied Activities
  • Country sessions  - Malaysia, Netherlands, Italy, Japan, USA
  • Numerous B2B and B2G meetings were organised on the side-lines of the summit, highlighting trade and investment opportunities between the global community and West Bengal.
  • Total of 137 MOUs, Letters of Intent (LoI) and Expressions of Interest (EoI) towards investment proposals of Rs. 3,42,375 crores were signed. These have a total employment potential of 40 lakhs.
  • Notable multinational companies like Microsoft, IBM, Adani Group, ITC, KfW, Tata-Hitachi, Gainwell Engineering, LOGOS, Wacker Metroark Chemicals (WMC), Big Dutchman International GmbH, Meyn expressed their business interests in Bengal
  • For the first time, the Bengal Global Trade Expo (BGTE) 2022 was organized alongside the BGBS. BGTE 2022, a 'first of its kind expo' organized in the country was supported by 12 Partner Countries and more than 1,500 domestic and overseas buyers had visited this trade expo.

  • Books launched
    • A Tea table book encapsulating the states 22 GI tagged products and showcasing Bengal's agro heritage, its handcrafted wonders, and its delectable sweetmeats
    • A compendium of reforms under the Ease of doing Business highlighting the reduction of compliance burden on business, ensuring online service delivery in a time bound manner, and real time and automatic grant of licenses/registrations in defined cases.
